2024 – week 31

The funfair has been back in Chalkwell park for its annual visit.

I thought Saturday might be a busy evening, but it was very quiet and the rides were not running all that often. I stuck around for some long exposure shots, but didn’t get anything I was happy with. I did better a couple of years ago.

I was approached by security a couple of times, and one of the security team asked to look at the pictures I was taking. He was perfectly polite about it, and I showed him the sort of thing I was doing. I understand their concerns, but it did put me off trying to get some general atmospheric shots, and I was careful to avoid shots with people in them.

It’s a shame as, had it been busier, it would’ve been great to get some shots of people enjoying the event. Unfortunately I got the impression that photographers were tolerated up to a point but not exactly welcome.
