2024 – week 12

This week’s shot is from Window Wanderland, a community art project in which businesses and residents decorated their windows.

I was hoping to get a full event gallery post out of the event, but I struggled to get enough good shots. The windows were widely spread around the town, and I didn’t get out in the evenings to catch the windows that needed to be shot at night, when backlit.

I’m not that disappointed. The nature of the event didn’t allow for much creativity in the photography. At best it would have been a record of the event. There’s nothing wrong with that; most of my event photography is just a record. Most events, though, have at least a little scope for something more interesting, whether through choice of composition or for capturing people enjoying the event.
