2023 – week 9

On Saturday I visited Dagnam Park, home to a herd of deer.

I don’t have the sort of equipment that a specialist wildlife photographer would need, so I was reasonably happy with the shots that I did get. My telephoto lens isn’t the sharpest at its longest equivalent focal length of 600mm.

It was also a challenge to keep it steady and to focus. The animal detection feature in my camera did a reasonably good job, but it struggled when there were lots of the deer in the shot, or there was a particularly complex background.

It was still a fun afternoon, and I’d definitely have another go with the lessons learnt from this attempt.
