2022 – week 8

One from the Southend LuminoCity festival of light, taken last Saturday.

I didn’t take a tripod, and just about managed to get away with it. The crowds would have made working with a tripod more or less impossible anyway, so I had to stretch the ISO levels to the point where noise was starting to become an issue in order to keep my shutter speeds manageable.

The best time for night photography is dusk, when there’s still some light in the sky, but with so many different installations around the town it wasn’t possible to get all of them in the ideal conditions. Sadly, I also missed the parade of the illuminated birds, as high winds meant that it was cancelled when I was there.
